HyperIce Vyper Foam-Roller Tested
When you get asked to test a high intensity, vibrating foam-roller your initial reaction is quiet an interesting one… But it doesn’t take much more then 5 seconds of Googling to make you quickly realize just how big of an international stir this device is creating.
Used by world renowned athletes such as; Patrick Peterson, Blake Griffin and Lindsey Vonn, the Vyper uses three levels of vibration to increase the intensity of the already hugely beneficial self-myofascial trigger-point release that a regular foam-roller offers.
Through the self-massage over an area, foam-rolling can lead to an increase in circulation to a targeted area. Because of this increase in circulation, muscle length will increase, improving range of motion in the targeted area as well as reducing muscle soreness and stiffness, and in end, reducing recovery time. Although any foam-roller can do just that, it’s the high intensity and high frequency of the Vyper’s vibration that takes these results even further, increasing the magnitude of the standard foam-roller’s benefits into an entirely new league of it’s own.
After putting the Vyper through a few days of testing on both myself and athletes, it became easily noticeable the results that it began to produce. Used for 5 minutes in both the warm-up and cool-down phase of a workout, a significant increase in range of motion and a reduction in next day soreness (DOMS) was noticed.
In summary, it works! Although pricey (much more then a standard foam-roller) the quality of the German made outer-shell and long-lasting rechargeable lithium battery makes it a justifiable long-term investment in preventing over-use injuries and accumulating doctors bills.
